How to use metal slide-in frames

These poster frames are for single-sided use and are intended for wall mounting indoors.

The poster slot is always on the short side of the frame. Normally these metal frames are used portrait with the poster or display board inserted from the top. However the frames can also be mounted landscape with the graphic panel slid in from the side.

When being used to display a poster or print the backing sheet stiffens up the display, while the clear plastic acetate sheet protects the poster from damage and dirt.

When used with a rigid display board the backing sheet can be put to one side allowing a graphic panel up to 5mm thick to be inserted.  When the mounted photograph or advertisement is over-laminated to protect the surface and enhance the print, the supplied acetate can also be removed. We recommend it is stored for possible future use.

These metal frames are always supplied from stock with backing sheets and clear front covers.  For large projects (i.e. large number of frames required) they can be produced to special order as an empty frame without the inserts.  For smaller quantities there is no saving, and taking the standard product means much quicker delivery.

Insert your print in front of the backing sheet and follow on with the acetate at the front.

Posters can be updated without removing the frame from the wall.

How to wall mount metal poster frames

Ensure that there will be room to insert the poster - especially if using a rigid display board.  In this case the clearance from the top of the frame to the ceiling needs to be at least the same as the height of the frame.

To fix metal slide-in frames to the wall, temporarilly remove the backing sheet and front acetate.  The fixing holes in the rear profile are then visible.  Ensuring the frame is perfectly level, mark the wall through the 4 fixing holes.  Drill the wall and use the supplied wall plugs (in masonry walls) and screws to fix the frame.  When fixing into wood the plastic wall plugs are not required. If in doubt about fixing please consult a trades person or competent DIYer.

In some situations these frames can be successfully mounted with double-sided adhesive tape or adhesive backed hook and loop instead of screws.  Success will depend on the type of wall surface and its suitability for this method.  We recommend you test before going ahead.
