Washroom facilities, office spaces, community halls. You'll see these frames being put to good use anywhere that has a need to change information on a regular basis. Is a clip frame the same thing?

Sometimes the terms clip frame and snap frames are used interchangeably. However, for the most part, clip frames are slightly different. Clip 'frames' are usually frameless and consist of a glass front, cardboard backing and metal clips for securing the two together. They are perfect for displaying photographs and postcards without a distracting frame, but you are less likely to see them used in commercial or business environments.

How do you use a snap frame?

Using a snap frame is super easy! The frames are front-loading so you can change or adjust your poster without even taking the frame off the wall. Just open up one side (profile) at a time. Once all sides are open, remove the poster cover sheet, change your poster and snap shut again. The special design of the frame makes changing posters quick and easy.

If you think this sounds a little too easy and you are worried that your poster could be tampered with, lockable snap frames are available to provide that extra security. These poster frames look virtually the same as the usual frames and have the same simple snap-open action but require a special lever tool rather than just your fingers to open them.

Can they be used outdoors?

Yes - regular snap frames can be used outdoors but be aware that these are not fully weatherproof. There are a couple of solutions to consider if you want your notice or poster to be located outside. Laminated A4 or A3 size snap frames are slightly oversized to take laminated printed without compromising on borders. This type of frame is an excellent choice for outdoors and for anywhere where steam might be an issue - for instance, washrooms or kitchens.

The other option is to plump for a fully waterproof outdoors frame. These have been specially designed to incorporate a seal and slightly bigger coversheet to ensure that your prints are protected. These frames are available in lockable versions too so you can be confident that your poster is weather and tamper-resistant.
